Contrary to belief, the State of Nebraska doesn't receive property tax dollars. Property taxes are assessed and collected on the local level by counties, cities and school districts.
The state also received 37.6% of its income in 2008 from the Federal Government in the form of Grants and Contracts. These funds were used for various purposes, such as Medicaid, road construction, and public safety and awareness.
